I thought this workshop was going to be a PC Californian wimp-fest
of half-baked ideas, faulty faux-science and loopy lingo. What I actually learned are concrete, real tools for better parenting.
I tried them at home to great success which reinforced my new willingness to work it further - Jared
Really
loved the Saturday format. The skill sheets are perfect condensations of the teaching, which makes it so much easier to remember
the salient points. I found the anecdotal sharing of the group filled out the information-rich format perfectly - Maja
I found the structure of the workshop helpful and a great support, the atmosphere which was lead by Stephanie was
very friendly. Over the two weeks between workshop days, the practical benefits were immediately apparant. Overall, I would
say the workshop was well-constructed, gently yet firmly lead, and offered an underlying sense that what I am doing as a parent
is O.K. So I leave feeling empowered, supported and very willing to create an honest, safe, open and loving relationship with
my son - Alice
I really liked the structure of the workshop: two days with a couple of weeks
to practise in between. The workshop was well-structured and broken down into understandable sections which followed logically
on from each other. On both days I arrived not really in the mood for learning after a hard weeks' work, but within 15
minutes I was really engaged. I was also pleased and relieved that there was no role-play as such. I was much happier with
the listening and discussion with real examples. All in all it was very enjoyable and informative, and in a way that is easy
to begin putting into practice - David
Introduction on Day 1 was very clear and direct which I liked. Very
glad that the workshop provided practical skills for us to take away and use rather than role-play which I find tends to be
great for the day but you never get much back long-term. Overall I got a lot of very helpful info and excellent notes that
I can look back on and use for the future. Very good course for myself as I do normally find it hard to take in info and this
time it worked so many thanks - Rob
Your way of teaching was so down-to-earth and very much
based in practicalities. You were so respectful of who we all were as parents that I immediately felt totally accepted
and equal to all the other members of the group. All my judgement vanished away in this atmosphere of acceptance and confidence
in the 'raw material' of who we were right at the beginning of the workshop. You certainly 'model' what you
teach! The workshop was clear, concise and fun. Thank you - Sophia
I really enjoyed this workshop and learned
loads of effective and interesting information, and strategies for dealing with parenting - and the wider world! You present
the course in an accessible, empathetic and fun way and the contents cut through the bewildering array of information and
advice that seems to be everywhere. It's psychobabble-free, gives clear strategies and structures to deal with everyday
and difficult situations, and enables you, very quickly, to take charge of the direction you want your family to take and
your sanity! Highly recommendable - my partner is already signed up for the next one - Karen
A
great workshop! I've been looking forward to it for so long I had really high expectations about how it could transform
family life. Of course in reality, tiredness, frustration and everything else intervene, but I feel really confident that
I have a great set of tools to take away and practise. It's been a lot of fun, and great to have the chance to laugh about
our individual disasters! I particularly appreciated your reminders from time to time that we're not perfect and
how awful it would be if we were! And your insistence on not taking it all too seriously has been refreshing and reassuring
- Sarah
I feel very empowered having completed the workshop. I know it will take a little time for it all
to settle in and become natural to me but I think my parenting style will be more honest and hopefully more light-hearted
- and respectful. I really enjoyed the very clear and practical way the workshop was laid out., in fact clear and practical
are the words which sum up the workshop and the advice given. I can't recommend it highly enough. The way I've been
describing it to friends is that it will help my journey through parenthood to be more enjoyable - Emma
Very
helpful and interesting. Lots of ideas, 'tools' and approaches to issues and improving relationships. Great insights
gained. It's given me improved self-awareness, and the ability to 'express' my feelings in a way that my kid can
hear. The instructor was very knowledgable, helpful and approachable - Paul
A life-changer!
We needed to change how we acted towards each other, and this has given us the skills to do so. It's improved our
communication as a family. I have more empathy for my son, and understand how erratic my relationship was to him before. He
has become calmer and will listen more. Stephanie's personal examples and experiences really helped my understanding -
Bethany
As a family we were stuck in a negative loop and this has enabled us
to break out of this into a much happier place. We are all generally much calmer and happier together - Owen
Clear information, excellent delivery and hand-outs, lots of information and good environment / class comfort
- Preston
This was well-paced and informative. The hand-outs were clear and to the point and I felt armed
with lots of tools which I look forward to trying out. I thoroughly enjoyed myself - Jason
Excellent structure,
clear learning points, moments of revelation, great personal stories, very human, realistic ways we can change, excellent
teaching style to get us to identify our issues and learn these ideas - love the positive, human, flexible approach (with
no guilt!) - Rachel
I like the printed materials, length, design and conciseness, and they
really bring back the learning that goes on during the day. There was a good balance of real-life examples and theory. I feel
optimistic now - Graham
